Genital HPV Types
HPV 6,11 (30,42,43,44)
- These make over 90% of genital warts
- Rarely associated with cancer
- These are the vast majority of genital warts
HPV 16,18 ( 31,33,35,39,51,52,61)
- High risk of association with cervical cancer and other lower genital tract cancers
- Clues from the appearance of the warts that may hint or suggest that they are the higher risk subtypes
- pigmented warts (darker pigment than the normal skin colour)
- warts that are very red
